ADDRESSING
MIGRATION AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING ISSUES
Due to the
conflict in Somalia, migration and human
trafficking have become very critical.
Thousands of Somalis died in the Yemen coast
searching for a better life.
Also hundreds
of Somalis died in the Sudan-Libya Sahara
hoping to reach Europe.
SYPD urges all
concerned parties to find a durable solution
for migration and human trafficking because
fighting the disease wants you fight against
the cause rather than the symptoms.
The majority
of migrants leave from South and Central
Somalia. This migration is mainly sparked off
by conflict, poverty and lack of economic
opportunities in their area. Feeling desperate,
the migrants, mainly men and women in young
age, prefer death in the sea and Sahara rather
than dying for hunger.
Therefore,
SYPD will conduct research on the causes of
migration and the trends pushing it.
Furthermore,
SYPD carries out awareness programs to provide
the public about information regarding the
dangers of migration and human trafficking. On
the hand, we recommend the creation of economic
opportunities to encourage the migrants stay
and establish life at their localities.
