More than
1500 families have benefited from the medical
camp organized by SYPD. According to a report
prepared by the doctors, the majority of the
patients who have been diagnosed were women
and children.

"The majority
of the patients were suffering from diarrhea,
malaria, malnutrition" said Dr. Osman Nune.
The local community have warmly welcomed the
SYPD initiative as many families can not
afford to go to a private clinic. "My
daughter has been shivering. When I brought
her here, doctors said it is malaria, and
they gave us drugs" said Muhubo Hassan, a
mother of three.

up with the disasters. "The war and natural
disasters have left negative impact on Somali
people, mainly the women who are the most
vulnerable in the society." said Dr. Habeb
who was part of the medical team organized by
SYPD. DR. Habeb, a specialist in mental
health, said we have provided
free counseling to many traumatized women.
Mr. Abdulkadir
Mohamed, the Executive Director of SYPD, has
thanked the doctors and nurses who
successfully conducted the mobile medical
camp. "Having seen the gravity of the health
situation in the IDP camps, we would like to
organize several medical projects, but due to
financial constraints we can't" said Mr.
Abdulkadir.
