Assessment & Counseling

The victims of the floods and internally displaced people need not only material support, but also psychological help.

There are families that have lost their members, most notably the bread-winners. Others were traumatized during the conflict. Some were lost and still remain missing.

Therefore, Somali Youth for Peace and Development (SYPD) has initiated counseling program for the victims of natural and man-made disasters.

In addition SYPD makes needs assessment before any response is initiated. This assessment helps us know the priority areas that need to be addressed urgently.

To understand their needs, SYPD involves all stakeholders in the assessment process.

This process has successfully born fruits and equipped the local community the ownership of the projects.

In addition to that, SYPD has implemented a free medical camp for the internally displaced people. The medical project had focused both on communicable diseases and trauma, which many people faced due to disasters they survived. Read more
